The Importance of the Law of the Diffusion of Innovation in understanding how we promote the needs for Action.

You could also re-name it “the law of of Innovation of Cutural Exchange” as both work but within different contexts. The concept is about how is innovation icommunicated through different channels over time among the participants in a social system.

As we have stated at the beginning of the home page we need to encourage a lot more people to take active stance in solving the myriad of issues that come under the climate change umbrella. In this article we look at the laws around how new ideas are taken up with society (Law of the Diffusion of Innovation) can help understand how to get people engaged in the innovation of getting people enaged in acting is regards solving our climate issues.

This is how we solve these issues in global/local communities.

So where do we start. Well we live in a over-consumptive age, where we destroy the materials nature has given us in frankly obscene ways. Why not use the tools of promotion that is so successful in selling us for the most part useless goods, service and products. This relates to the marketing and how ideas spread and are taken up by society.

What for instance is common knowledge, after-all the real solutions to our climate issues and biodiversty decline are out there but we dont have the common knowledge to act? And where does it come from? We all know we should say “Bless you” when someone sneezes, but why do we do that? How did we learn it? Then there is understanding how information passes through different groups can help the idea or concept extremely dynamic. This is not the case in terms of rectifying the climate and biodiversity issues.

This is all about how individuals and society learn. We have been doing for since the dawn of human kind in varied and different guises. While this article starts with the idea of the law of diffusion. It about how we need to reassess how we learn, how communities work (currently community cohesion is frankly dead). At Commonground we believe all of this is primary. We cannot move forward unless community is at the centre if getting things done.

Whether thats in the small community or tribe you live in or in work or as part of how we do business or how we live and the other families we interact with. This essay is taken from our Founders Phd – which looks at the subject of Cognitive Creative Learning.

This article is currently on the bench and being written and maybe a bit clunky – please bear with. Cheers
