6 Acre Agroforestry Venture

This projects works along side the setting up of the ReWilding Cafe. Its a long term project that aims to illustrate how nature works as well as allowing people the chance to see nature at work over the long term. We are hoping that people will in time want to get involved in the project.

What is Agroforestry

Agroforestry integrates trees with crops or livestock to create sustainable, 3D farming systems that enhance biodiversity, shelter, and income

Benefits of agroforestry – There are many ways that agroforestry can enhance your farm’s main production and overall outputs: enhanced soil health and protection from extreme weather can increase crop production, trees can shelter livestock and crops from extreme weather conditions, such as sun, wind and heavy rain trees can bring extra income streams, from wood-based products or fruit and nut produce

Agroforestry also benefits the environment by protecting soil, rivers and biodiversity, capturing and storing carbon, as well as providing cleaner air and water. These benefits can support the long-term resilience of your farm business to climate change.

Agroforestry integrates trees with crops or livestock to create sustainable, its a farming systems that enhance biodiversity, shelter, and income. The three main types of agroforestry systems integrate trees with agricultural components to improve land productivity and sustainability. These includ Agrisilvicultural (trees + crops), Silvopastoral (trees + livestock/pasture), and Agrosilvopastoral (trees + crops + livestock) systems, which offer ecological and economic benefits.

Its only 6 Acres but it can affect how the wider local communities see and the issues and also get involved.

By combining the cafe with the kitchen garden as well as the agroforestry project we hope that we can influence more and more people into understanding what we are saying. It’s shold be a visual experience that triggers conservations across the board.

By seeing the importance and the authentic sustainability that is on show around the cafe. If you then add in the projects and sustinable businesses that are promoted around the local community what you have then is the chance to create a real tangile movement for the better.

You have to remember that this is all part of creating a solid tangible green movement that at its heart wants to help and show how to become sustainably green. By creating projects like this we can also work out how to do this in more and more affordable ways.

The Articles below will show how we plan to go about developing and growing the 6 Acre Project.
