The Benefits of Taking Sabbaticals

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

So What does a “Sabbatical” Mean in Our Eyes – Business Wise

Paying for sabbitacals seems a rather counter-intuitive stance to take in terms of running a business. The thing here is that you have to truely understand what Commonground ReWilding is all about. If you have read the section onn ‘Upside Down Management” you will know that actually our business is run by our customer facing staff. This means that to succeed and grown we have to have there well-fare in mind.

To understand our idea of a sabbatical is to understand that our aims are more than profit, more than sell, sell sell. Success is about what we can show in real terms what we have created. Yes we do need to make a profit. We are not against profit making. In our eyes success is what we do with the profit me make, how successful have we been in terms of using Authentic Sustainability to promote a healthier world.

The idea of including sabbitcals in what ever way is also there for all of us in Commonground to be able to go into the world and see what has changed. Bring that back to Commonground so we can adapt and change what we are doing in light of what we have learnt.

How can Sabbiticals Help Individuals develop and grow.

Meet of fitness gym in the woods. An alternative to pounding the treadmill in the gym, instead we run a range of getting active sessions around our local wood from Nordic Walking, Forest Circuit sessions, Forest Bathing, Bike Joring and Canicross classes to coaching sessions from running training to fitness advice.

There is also our getting more involved sessions from kids sessions that revolve around getting involved in nature, in fact we are setting up a Forest Kindergarten is a type of learning for children for all ages from kindergarten to older that is held almost exclusively outdoors. Whatever the weather, children are encouraged to play, explore and learn in a forest environment., finding bugs and little creepy crawlies to more mental health sessions the allow people to get involved in the mental health benefits of engaging with nature.

Personally the concepts aims to help people learn better. Its about engaging areas of the brain through which we learn. Its sad to think that todays Educational policy is woefully inadequate to satisfy the needs of every individual and the societies we live in

20% time was originally developed to help software designers and engineers go away and spent 20% of there working week or a day if you will, doing there own thing. The only rule was that at the end of the 20% period was that they had to produce something definitive.

There are many versions of 20% time from the ROWE (results only work environment) to Sabatticals to 20% or so time. The whole point to installing these concepts is to improve both how Commonground is run and how what we do can be a benefit to to those work with us.

We have been asked the question alot. Does the science work in this case. We have to tell you most resoundinly Yes. So what happens when companies have developed these concepts? Almost universally across the board, productivity goes up, worker engagement goes up, worker satisfaction goes up. At the core of this are the concept of Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose. Its about developing Intrinsic motivators over extrinsic motivators. There is a mismatch between what science knows and what business does.
