“Given the fact that our Cognitive Diversty is at least as threatened as our Biodiversity”

The idea of creating smaller more compact societies all round this world is as important as reducing CO2 emission among many other things. This article is about how we need to create local communities more that creating the current one world modern corporate view.

In fact the drive to a one world view is driven by corporate greed. The effect is that the human race is effectively becoming homogenized (made uniform or similar). This in turn causes our cognitive creative abilities to be deminished.

This whole article is about pointing out that human success came from smaller diverse groups that combine to create solutions. The research that you will see here came from our Founders Phd into the subject and was core to how we need more imiginative local communities to succeed.

Defining What We Mean By the Term Local.

If you look around the world today you will see that local is an avoid term. Everything is done in big ways whether its related to farming or industrial. The idea of local is seen as small and not profitable enough for this the 1% of people who contol 99% of the worlds economy.

If you look at the success of the human race can be seen through the idea of variety. Individuals alone never ever succeed alone. Take the examples of decoding the human genome was done by around 40 different scientists. Well at least that was the number of patents applied seeking ownership. Maybe look at the depiction of the laws of gravity. While Issac Newton was named as the discoverer of the laws, even he acknowledged that he had succeed becuase he had stood on the shoulders of giants.

The list goes on and on. Thomas Edison is credited with inventing the first commercially viable incandescent lightbulb in 1879, but the invention was a culmination of work by20+ inventors over 70 years. British inventor Joseph Swan developed a similar bulb earlier, leading to patent disputes before they merged companies.

This trend is not explicity related to the sciences. You can see this diversity anywhere humans needed to solve problems. Different cultures develop there own way of solving problems.

However in todays world this diversity is under serious threat as we become more intergrated. Cultures are being consumed by the other larger cultures under the banner of Consumerism. To protect our cognitive diversity we need to encourage more imdependence as well as creating our own cognitive creative individualism. Otherwise we will become less and less cognitively creative and as result of that we lose the ability to solve serious problems effectively.

At Commonground ReWilding we are not setting out to create an encompassing frame work around around how we solve problems but rather we define how to identify what the actual are and some ideas of how to got about finding solutions.

We work within small local communities. We are not setting this concept out all over the country or the world but rather we want to encourage different communities to take up what we want do and develop there own systems.

Community and social cohesion is vital to human cognitive problem solving. This can’t be achieved through global attitudes. Each community type whether its related to subject based communities like science, farming, manufacturing. There are also community types based around our social, religious or community needs. We bet that you could think of some we have missed.

The key to creating better cognitive diversity is to think smaller. An example of this could be seen in how to adapt farming for local needs, from small local farms that could even include people gardens to bigger farms that not only act as food production but also use redundant spaces for local business and suttainable manufacturing and maybe community centres. This is how the human race has operated over millenia. It is only over the past 200 years or so that we have changed and its not working. We need to go back to how we have lived from the year dot. It’s how the the human race thrived and grew…….

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
