This is a short page as to what why we do what we do, is all about. The whole idea revolves around how to reduce Over-Consumption and the way we do it may be a little bit left field. To find the solutions we have gone back to how we learn, creating green sustainable solutions only comes at the end of our planning.

If defining solutions comes at the end of our work, what are we actually doing. The core to Commongrounds work to to get people to understand what authentic solutions are to our climate issues.
Before we even try to address that we need to address the idea of understanding what the problems actually are. Take a look at the graph to your left. It defines how we use earths finite materials. Nothing more than that. Reading this do you understand stand whats needed to solve our climate and Biodiversity issues. The answer is that a very large majority of us haven’t a clue. We bet not a Scooby Doo.
This is what we do and what this website aims to do. Its a not a simple thing. There are areas that will challenge the human race right to its core but it need not be if we take one simple premise. It can be fun learning something new and profound. At the end of this page there is a link about how real Human Learning works and we do not mean modern education processes.
Nature supplies us with all the materials, except for the sun but these materials come at a finite amount. We need to work within natures supply limitations so that all life can benefit from nature….

Authentic Sustainability is a seriously misunderstood concept, so much so our current attempts to create a real green world will cause extremely detrimental effects to out claimate and our way of living. So much so it will be painful to live in in contrast to the way we live currently. The whole of this website is about explain Over-Consumption and create interesting, effective ways to got about solving the issues we have hightlighted. We at Commonground have defined the solutions that we see as a design proposal.
There are basically two ways humans approach solving problems. Each of these two have many sub-categories hidden within. There is the analogue way and then there is reasoning from first principles, which is how science tends to go about solving problems and it’s very effective. However everyday problem thinking in humans we tend to take the easier option – The analogy way of thinking.
Reasoning from first principles is the practice of questioning every assumption you think you know about any given problem, but at the same time laying your assumptions aside. It’s about being honest with yourself. By working this way it allows you to create new solutions from scratch. It’s one of the best ways to unlock creative solutions to complicated problems. It has been used by many famous people from Johannes Gutenberg, military strategist John Boyd, the ancient philosopher Aristotle, Nicola Tesla and Elon Musk. In fact it would not be far fetched to say the literary detectives like Poriot and Sherlock used the method or at least there writers understood the concept in one form or another.
